HHF Completes First Phase of Its Transformative Planned Giving Matching Challenge
We are excited to announce that Hearing Health Foundation's (HHF) transformative Planned Giving Matching Challenge has been met! In the past three years, 218 HHF supporters have made new planned (estate) gift commitments, resulting in HHF’s securing $2 million in matching gifts from an anonymous donor.
The 218 planned gift commitments total an estimated $30 million to $50 million, 100 percent of which will be used to fund scientific research on hearing loss and related conditions.
Planned gifts have a multiplier effect that is dramatic. Based on the current ratio of HHF research funds disbursed to grantees’ subsequent federal funding, it is projected that the additional research funds generated by the Planned Giving Matching Challenge will result in $1.64 billion in subsequent federal funding for hearing and balance researchers.
The HHF Board of Directors, volunteers, and staff would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated in the Planned Giving Matching Challenge, with a special thanks to the challenge donor who inspired others to create their own legacy that will benefit hearing health research for years to come.
Several donors chose to direct their planned gifts to a specific area of research. Of the estimated $30 million to $50 million in planned gift commitments and the $2 million in matching funds, $1,000,000 is restricted to pain hyperacusis, $200,000 to tinnitus, and $200,000 to Ménière's disease.
